The expression "light at the end of the tunnel " seems so unfair. Does it mean that the light at the beginning of the tunnel turns off the moment you enter. Light at the end of the tunnel is also the light that you can return to, if you retract. But that's fundamentally against human nature. Forge ahead, in a trance of life. Celebrate the darkness !
I ran the half marathon today, and felt like the tunnel of this journey would never end, like dark patch of life that seems to envelop all. But like all things, its a race against yourself, and more importantly your mind. Remember to let the spirit pour out of your pores. Be the run, and not the runner, I repeated to myself often, and a feeling of one-ness with the surroundings washed over. Finally the body and soul were dissociated by an irrefutable exhaustion. Reaching the finish line was the beginning of another long tunnel for future ambitions - only this one had light coming in from all sides !
